Peanut butter, go or no?
Is peanut butter keto friendly? Well, only some!
I love peanut butter! Don't you?
Nut butter is high in fat and protein and suitable on a keto diet. Same with peanut butter, almond butter, and sunflower seed butter. Despite being super restrictive, keto is one of the most popular diets out there. Part of the reason is that followers still get to eat high-fat foods—the goal being to get the body into ketosis, aka fat-burning mode. But you should look for a healthy variation of peanut butter, read the ingredients for sugar and make sure to look for peanut butters with only up to two ingredients in them: peanuts, and maybe salt.
Always stick to natural peanut butter and avoid anything with added sugars to make sure your peanut butter is keto-compliant. Read labels to be sure your natural peanut butter is truly what it claims to be.
Also be mindful of your total carbs for the day when indulging, as 2 Tablespoons of peanut butter contains 4 grams net carbs. Depending on how many carbs you’re aiming to stay under in a day, this may or may not be a good fit.
There are different opinions about the keto friendliness of peanut butter and after doing a research I concluded that as long as I watch for added sugar and keep the intake of it low it's ok to eat it while on keto.
